About this room

Engagement Rings, made to order.

An engagement ring is worn every day for decades, so we start with the stone. Every ART engagement ring is built around a lab-grown diamond chosen for its cut first, then for its colour and clarity.

The designs here are starting points. Carat, shape and metal are yours to decide, and if none of them is right, we will draw a new one.

A short guide

How to choose an engagement ring

  1. 01

    Start with the shape

A round brilliant returns the most light. Oval, pear and marquise cuts look larger for their weight. Emerald and Asscher cuts trade sparkle for long, calm flashes. See the guide to diamond shapes.

  2. 02

Set a range, not a number

A 0.90 carat diamond and a 1.00 carat diamond look almost the same on the hand. A lab-grown diamond costs less than a mined one of the same grade, so the same budget usually reaches a larger or better cut stone.

  3. 03

    Put cut first

Cut decides how bright a diamond is. A well cut stone with a lower colour grade will outshine a poorly cut stone with a higher one. The four Cs explain the rest.

  4. 04

Choose a setting for the life it will live

Claws lift the stone and let light in. A bezel wraps the edge in metal and protects it. A halo adds presence. Low settings suit busy hands. The guide to settings compares them.

  5. 05

Know the size, or guess safely

Borrow a ring worn on the same finger and measure its inside diameter. The ring size guide has the table.

Questions

Asked often.

All questions
Are lab-grown diamonds real diamonds?

Yes. A lab-grown diamond is a real diamond. It is made of the same carbon crystal as a mined diamond, with the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale and the same brilliance. In 2018 the United States Federal Trade Commission removed the word "natural" from its definition of a diamond for this reason.

Can anyone tell a lab-grown diamond from a mined one?

Not by eye, and not with a jeweler's loupe. A lab-grown diamond and a mined diamond look identical. Telling them apart takes laboratory instruments that read growth patterns and trace elements. Graded lab-grown diamonds usually carry a laser inscription on the girdle that says so.

How much does a piece cost?

Every piece is made to order, so the price depends on the diamond you choose and the metal. We quote each piece individually and free of charge. Tell us a budget and we will show you what it reaches.

How do I order a piece from ART?

Send an enquiry from the contact page or from the page of the piece you like. We reply with the options for stone, metal and size, a price and a date. Nothing is made, and nothing is paid, until you have agreed to all of it in writing.
